Read moreIn an exciting revelation, pop sensation Camila Cabello has shared that her upcoming album, C,XOXO, will feature not one, but two collaborations with the legendary Drake. Speaking to Billboard, Cabello explained, "Why does he have his own song? Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album."
Back in December, rumors swirled about a possible romance between Cabello and Drake after they were spotted on a luxurious getaway in Turks & Caicos. However, Cabello has now set the record straight in her Billboard cover story released on May 29, revealing that their connection was purely professional. During their time on the islands, the duo wasn’t just enjoying the sun and sea — they were also wrapping up a track together.
“He’s the f--king GOAT, so it felt like shooting for the stars,” Cabello told Billboard, recounting how she first reached out to Drake by sliding into his DMs. “I showed him the album when I felt comfortable enough and he really liked it. [The feature] came out of a non-transactional place. He had this idea of a song called ‘Hot Uptown,’ and it just felt like I was in the city. I was in Miami.”
Drake's influence extends beyond just "Hot Uptown." He is also featured in a two-minute interlude titled “Uuugly,” which follows immediately after on the tracklist. This snippet, entirely Drake's brainchild, showcases him crooning over synth beats with Cabello’s harmonies.
“Why does he have his own song? Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album,” Cabello reiterated. “I love that for me — it’s like that rebellious mood. Who says I can’t do that? It’s Drake talking his s--t.”
This interview comes five months after the duo's trip, which initially sparked dating rumors. Cabello addressed these speculations in March on the Call Her Daddy podcast, explaining that her approach to Drake was motivated purely by her belief that he would appreciate her music. “I really felt like he would like my album, and so I DM’d him and I was like, ‘Hey, I’m just gonna put it out there.’”
“We hung out, I played him my album. He loved it,” she added, though she kept the feature a secret at that time.
C,XOXO, set to release on June 28, will also include collaborations with City Girls, The-Dream, and BLP Kosher, alongside previously released singles “I Luv It” with Playboi Carti and “He Knows” with Lil Nas X. This album marks a significant milestone for Cabello as it is the first time she has written all her own lyrics and top-line melodies, contributing to what she believes is a "purer" and more cohesive sound. “I think that’s why it sounds so cohesive,” she told Billboard. “Because it really feels like me.”
Fans eagerly await the release, anticipating the blend of Cabello’s authentic style with the dynamic presence of Drake on C,XOXO.
